March 16th 2017: Over 200 Irish and Irish-American business leaders gathered in Stanford University on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate the top Irish and Irish American technology executives making a significant impact in the tech world. Each year the Silicon Valley 50 Awards, organised by The Irish Technology Leadership Group, celebrates the successes of the Irish and Irish-Americans in Silicon Valley.
An Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald (Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland) opened the event, touching on the unique connection between Ireland and the United States. Shane Wall, Chief Technology Officer, HP and Dr. Craig R Barrett, former CEO and Chairman, Intel delivered keynotes and fireside chats throughout the evening.
Fifty Irish and Irish-American executives were recognised for their impact in the technology sector in Silicon Valley, including Voxpro CEO & Co-Founder, Dan Kiely. Other Honorees of the 2017 Silicon Valley 50 included Lorraine Twohill, Chief Marketing Officer, Google; Jack Dorsey, Founder & CEO of Twitter & Square; Margaret Burgaff, Vice President, Intel; Monique Meche, Vice President, Amazon; John and Patrick Collison, Co-Founders & CEO, Stripe and Katie McMahon, Vice President & GM, SoundHound Inc.
